Parking permits go virtual

The image announces virtual parking permits for students, new this fall, with instructions to follow.
Posted 9 months ago  in UAB NewsParent and Family News.

UAB has implemented a virtual parking permit system for specific parking areas. In this new system, your virtual permit is linked to your license plate number, which means there are no physical hangtags for these areas. This system is designed to streamline the parking process for students and employees alike.

  • Virtual permits allow easy access to specific campus parking lots without needing physical permits.
  • There is no need to pick up or wait for delivery of a physical permit.
  • You can update your vehicle information online at any time.
  • Your license plate must be visible from driving lane.
    • You cannot back in or pull through to a second space, unless the front of your vehicle also displays your license plate.

How to Secure Your Virtual Permit:

  • Register your vehicle's license plate through the UAB parking portal.
  • Students should visit the Student Parking page to learn about parking options and permit sale timeframes.

Note: Virtual permits are tied to your vehicle license plate number and require the plate to be visible at all times. This means there are no physical hangtags for student parking areas. Learn the new best practices for parking so you can avoid fines. Student registration for Fall-Spring opens August 1.
