Blazer Families,

Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time. The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic are tremendous, and we realize that you and your student have had to face a lot of uncertainty and change in a short amount of time. Please know that each decision made by the University has been to prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff.

The Division of Student Affairs is committed to ensuring that our students stay connected and engaged with the campus community, receive access to the support and resources they need to be successful and remain healthy and safe during this time. As a result, we have created an online list of resources for our students to access during this pandemic. It includes information about health and wellness, counseling services, free eTextbooks, eLearning and much more. This site will be regularly updated as more resources become available. In addition, UAB has developed a website with in-real-time updates regarding their responses to coronavirus crisis: www.uab.edu/coronavirus.

Many of our student programs are being moved into a virtual format to provide them with opportunities to connect and engage with their fellow students. From virtual exercise classes, to an intramural e-Sports league, to an online off-campus housing fair, students can continue to experience dynamic campus activities. More events, programs and initiatives are being added daily to the Engage platform.

The Blazer Kitchen at the Hill Student Center continues to support our students who are experiencing food insecurities through weekly food distributions. And, together, our Undergraduate Student Government Association, along with the students in our Graduate Student Government, created the COVID-19 Emergency Grant to support UAB students who may be experiencing financial difficulties during this time. Hundreds have already applied for assistance through this grant. Please consider giving to this fund. It can make a difference. Learn more here.
